A Whole New World
As i had mentioned in my last post i had been feeling kinda home sick being my third month in college. So i had taken it upon myself to some how find my way back to what i thought would be home. I had talked my sister into purchasing a flight home for me for the first weekend in November. Excited as can be i started my trip off with a 5 hour road trip to San Franciso with my close friends Kelsey, Maggie, Kimmy, and her boyfriend Aidian. With the car packed and ready there was no hesitation to get on the road and make our way to SF. Although im not a Big SF Giants fan i give them a shout out for winning the world series against the Texas Rangers. While five hours of un comfortable positioning and awkward sleep never seemed to go by so slow we arrived right on time in San Franciso. Giving us plenty of time to drop off Aidian and Kimmy at there houses' and me to the airport. As soon as i hit the airport my nerves started getting to the best of me. Why? you may ask. See i have never flown alone and checking in and getting situated by myself seemed so nerve wrecking. Never the less i figured out how to check my bag in go through security which almost didn't let me go and then make it on to my plane. After all was assured and i was situated I buckled up and prepared for my arrival in southern California. The Plane ride was as smooth as butter and couldn't of gone better so when i departed off the plane there was no question that a pearly white smile was present and you could see miles away. I was home. Following the other restless passengers to baggage claim i re united with a huge bear hug from my best friend and a hug from my sister. After talking for a few minutes while waiting for my bags to arrive i noticed the first big change in many changes to come. The weather was beautiful it was a nice 80 degrees at 10pm. You would never be able to find that in Humboldt. Grabbing my bags my best friend, sister and i headed towards the car which was also new. Recently my sister had gotten in to a very serious car accident and her car was in the shop so i placed my bag in the rental and hoped in and head "home". Although three months seem like such a small amount of time a lot had changed. As i showed up to my house i realized this wasn't my house at all. The house i used to call home was now being put up for sale and my mom had moved in a cute affordable apartment with 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. Arriving home was nothing i would have expected i was greet by mom and couldn't wait to see my little brother which sadly enough was asleep. After i unpacked my stuff i made up the couch which was now my new bed after the move my brother inherited mine and i was moved to my new location the couch. Along with many other changes i gained a new friend along this trip to this now foreign place i called home. My new friend's name is Mila she is our family's pet rat. She is really adorable and although she is mildy skittish at times she reminds me alot of our other rat Gracie we had die before i left to college. After a crazy first night back in southern california it was time for some shut eye. I woke up to a snuggling little brother giving me a huge hug. Being the "chef boyardee" in family my brother didn't hesitate to ask if i wanted breakfast and made me a BLT if that wasn't the best way to start my day.
Forest Walks
As many know Im currently attending college in Humboldt County, and its beauty defiantly speaks for it for it selves at times. The mass amount of nature is never far from reach simply a walk to my back yard and Im standing in the middle of one of the biggest forest. Myself and and couple of other people i know have been known to take a couple of daily walks through the forest. The best part of the forest is sharing the experience with some one you care about. The one person i love to take daily nature walks with is Morgan Stango. Usually after math and before writing lab we go grab food then head to the forest for some conversation and good company. Keeping each other entertained with our stories of our day or funny things we started to notice. Being so far away from home nature walks are some of the best times to let things off your chest with out offending anyone. Another neat thing about having a massive play ground in your "backyard" is there is so much to discover so many neat things to see wether its the banana slugs leaving there slimy trails over the damp trees to the natural rivers that run through out the trees and plants with the fresh rain water. Even the trees and the weird formations they make with there roots clinging to the distressed broken logs that had timbered with age. The forest is such a fascinating place with so abundance to offer. As i walk to class looking up toward the sky and see those giant redwoods stare back at me brings a smile to my face knowing how lucky i am to enjoy where i live.

Home Away from Home
Home Away From Home
From Southern California beaches to the Humboldt Shore, one of the hardest things to do when i went away to college, twelve hours away was letting going of some of the things i cherished the most. Being only month into school I already miss the little things i never thought i would ever miss such as watching my little brother play baseball, and having late night talks with my sister about how are day went. I never thought i would say it but i miss my moms home cooked meals. But i guess this is what college is made of finding yourself, being a independent, and having living life without the hold of those you wish you had the most. All though not every second of every day I am thinking of what i left behind for my new life but, i do have those days where i feel like i just need to go some where i can feel like when i go there i feel home. One of those places is the beach wether i was two miles of fifteen million miles i feel at home being at the beach. Growing up every year since ive been born my family and i would spend two weeks at the beach. Usually during the last two weeks of July or the last month of July and the first month of August my grandma would rent out a beach house in Newport California and my family and I would spend the best two weeks ever in the one place i will always call a second home. While taking a road trip to check out more of Humboldt county myself and a couple of friends managed to stumble across the beach although most of my friends went so enthusiastic to join me , i made sure we had came back the next day. I dont know wether its the smell of the shore or the feel of the sand i just know i can always come here to escape my troubles.

FAIL
sooooo as college gets more in depth i found i have no time to update this every day like i planned so i found a nice alternative to this . i have decided a picture a week seemed more productive although it wasn't what i had hope for but it will manage :) maybe one day i will be able to accomplish it. So with that being said had seen one my friends facebook albums titled as "remember when... " it was full of old pictures of herself and friends and moments in her life. It made me really want to go back and look at some old photos from a couple years ago, that i hadn't seen in a while. I managed to stumble across some happy moments i would never forget but also came across a few more that made me almost end up in tears. its funny how that famous saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" i think it should be more or less "a picture is worth more than a thousand words... its worth a thousand emotions..... worth a thousand stories.... worth a thousand little pixels made to hold that one moment from running away forever" With that being said i thought i would share a picture from my past. o this picture above is my best friend in the whole entire world we met my freshmen year in highschool and i am now a freshmen in college and we still remain really close i have done so many great things with this girl. She has become more like a sister over the years and its crazy to see how much our relationship has grown within these past 5 years. We ceratinly have been through a tornado of events were we have been there to pick each other up , shed the tears, laugh intill we cant breathe and our abdomains ached in pain, to support each other with what ever we wanted to put are mine too, and give wisdom to one another for reassurance. From day one i knew this girl was going to forever change my life i couldnt be any more thankful for her. We both know we will always be there for each other with heart full of love and arms wide open when ever we need each othere the most. I couldnt be anymore thankful to have this talented smart, caring, bubbly girl in my life. So melanie if your reading this i Tatum Allison Paul promise to remain your best friend in till were old and wrinkly with grandma shoes and not those purple vans i love you and miss you so much. Well intill next week ......

Day:1 (Here we go)
We have all heard that famous saying "a apple a day keeps the doctor away." Well as my first blog i hope this is not the case. Im hoping my idea of a picture a day for the 365 days of the year starting today keeps people coming back to my blog for the following days picture and post. I got forced into making a blog for my college english class and my feelings for it at first were a bit sketchy but I'm glad our teacher came up with such a cool and neat way for us to incorporate technology and the 21st century into what i was expecting to be another year of boring writing topics, unbearable essays, and the nail bitting thought of barely passing this class. My name is Tatum Paul i currently reside in Humboldt County for college but i have much pride to represent southern California. From the sandy beach between my toes to the drive down hollywood boulevard filled with the countless dreams of aspiring actors and actresses hoping to strike in big, then there are striving performers and street artists in Venice, and cant forget the die hard sport fanatics which represent some of the best teams ,such as the Lakers,Chargers,Angels, and Dodgers. By making sure the jersey to the face paint and even the rally mascot is not left at home when headed to the stadium for the big game. Yes southern california is my true home :) !! My inspiration for this blog came from a close friend who is also a photographer named Casey . She had the pleasure of teaching me some new techniques on how to use my Nikon D3000.While she was teaching me she had told me how she had seen this blog someone else had done. I guess the blogger had taken this project to take a new photo every day for a year and and post it on her blog. Being a photographer myself, this sparked my attention without a doubt. I cant wait for this experience .... well here i go day number one begins now.
