A Whole New World

As i had mentioned in my last post i had been feeling kinda home sick being my third month in college. So i had taken it upon myself  to some how find my way back to what i thought would be home. I had talked my sister into purchasing a flight home for me for the first weekend in November.  Excited as can be i started my trip off with a 5 hour road trip to San Franciso with my close friends Kelsey, Maggie, Kimmy, and her boyfriend Aidian. With the car packed and ready there was no hesitation to get on the road and make our way to SF. Although im not a Big SF  Giants fan i give them a shout out for winning the world series against the Texas Rangers. While five hours of un comfortable positioning and awkward sleep never seemed to go by so slow we arrived right on time in San Franciso.  Giving us plenty of time to drop off Aidian and Kimmy at there houses' and me to the airport. As soon as i hit the airport my nerves started getting to the best of me. Why? you may ask. See i have never flown alone  and checking in and getting situated by myself seemed so nerve wrecking. Never the less i figured out how to check my bag in go through security which almost didn't let me go and then make it on to my plane. After all was assured and i was situated I buckled up and prepared for my arrival in southern California. The Plane ride was as smooth as butter and couldn't of gone better so when i departed off the plane there was no question that  a pearly white smile was present and you could see miles away. I was home. Following the other restless passengers to baggage claim i re united with a huge bear hug from my best friend and a hug from my sister. After talking for a few minutes while waiting for my bags to arrive i noticed the first big change in many changes to come. The weather was beautiful it was a nice 80 degrees at 10pm. You would never be able to find that in Humboldt. Grabbing my bags my best friend, sister and i headed towards the car which was also new. Recently my sister had gotten in to a very serious car accident and her car was in the shop so i placed my bag in the rental and hoped in and head "home". Although three months seem like such a small amount of time a lot had changed. As  i showed up to my house i realized this wasn't my house at all. The house i used to call home was now being put up for sale and my mom had moved in a cute affordable apartment with 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. Arriving home was nothing i would have expected i was greet by mom  and couldn't wait to see my little brother which sadly enough was asleep. After i unpacked my stuff i made up the couch which was now my new bed after the move my brother inherited mine and i was moved to my new location the couch. Along with many other changes i gained a new friend along this trip to this now foreign place i called home.  My new friend's name is Mila she is our family's pet rat. She is really adorable and although she is mildy skittish  at times she reminds me alot of our other rat  Gracie we had die before i left to college.  After a crazy first night back in southern california it was time for some shut eye. I woke up to a snuggling little brother giving me a huge hug. Being the "chef boyardee" in family my brother didn't hesitate to ask if i wanted breakfast and made me a BLT if that wasn't the best way to start my day.

Forest Walks

Forest Walks

As many know Im currently attending college in Humboldt County, and its beauty defiantly speaks for it for it selves at times. The mass amount of nature is never far from reach simply a walk to my back yard  and Im standing in the middle of one of the biggest forest. Myself and and couple of other people  i know have been known to take a couple of daily walks through the forest.  The best part of the forest is sharing the experience with some one you care about. The one person i love to take daily nature walks with is Morgan Stango. Usually after math and before writing lab we go grab food then head to the forest for some conversation and good company. Keeping each other entertained with our stories of our day or funny things we started to notice. Being so far away from home nature walks are some of the best times to let things off your chest with out offending anyone. Another neat thing about  having a massive play ground in your "backyard" is there is so much to discover so many neat things to see wether its the  banana slugs leaving there slimy trails over the damp trees to the  natural rivers that run through out the trees and plants with the fresh rain water. Even the trees and the weird formations they make with there roots clinging to the  distressed broken logs that had timbered with age. The forest is such a fascinating place with so abundance to offer. As i walk to class looking up toward the sky and see those giant redwoods stare back at me brings a smile to my face knowing how lucky i am to enjoy where i live.
